It's been a year since the COVID-19 pandemic caused the entire world to shut down and if one thing was made evident, it was the massive benefits that came to those with mobile devices. Specifically when it comes to education. We've had to switch to a plethora of apps which are necessary to keep school as interactive as possible, but what happens to those without mobile devices?

Since this post talks about education, I'll mainly refer to laptops and tablets when it comes to mobile devices since phones are unsuitable for learning. We now have various apps and websites our schools use to communicate information with us as well as to assign us homework. Just as with almost anything is this world, it comes with its pros and cons. One big advantage of having a connected school is that grades are online and can be viewed at any time. Before there was any of this, kids would either have to check in with their teacher individually to see their performance or wait till their report cards came out. Now, a student can track their progress as well as areas of improvements as the term goes on. Another advantage is that teachers can directly upload tasks online rather than having to print them and hand them out in class. A major con to students is that teachers can upload homework whenever they want, be it during the weekend and holidays.

It would be impossible for me to ignore the importance these mobile gadgets have had throughout the past year. With many apps like Zoom and Google Meet popping up as a result of the pandemic, a mobile device has become an essential part of every students educational life. We were able to have classes right from home rather than having to completely put a hold on education. It is clear that technology is here to stay when it comes to education.
